Melenie Duval, BA, ALC, ISS, PPD
Founder & President
Melenie has 28 years of experience in the field of lactation, parent education, and infant sleep support. In fact, many in the local childbirth community call her the "breast whisperer!" She brings passion, wisdom, and loving care to every family she serves. Melenie began her journey to serve families after the birth of her son in 1996. Breastfeeding came easy but she was not passed down the tradition from the women in her family. Seeking out breastfeeding support led her to Nursing Mothers Counsel of Oregon and a world of birth/breastfeeding mentors who embraced her and blessed her with their knowledge. Here she became a breastfeeding peer counselor, breastfeeding educator, neighborhood breast pump rental station, committee chair, grant writer, and event coordinator.
After earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Rhetoric and Media Studies from Willamette University in 2009, Melenie continued to be drawn in by her passion for serving families. While working at the Gallatin City-County Health Department as the Lactation Education Program Coordinator, a program she developed from the ground up, she maintained her Certified Lactation Counselor accreditation. She received her Advanced Lactation Consultant certification in the fall of 2017. In 2018, nominated by her peers, Melenie was awarded the first MT Mother-Baby Breastfeeding Advocacy Award by the Montana Breastfeeding Coalition for her tireless efforts in community lactation support and advocacy. In 2021, she was elected to the Board of Directors for the Mother’s Milk Bank of Montana.
Melenie became passionate about healthy sleep for families after hearing the stories of sleep deprivation over and over again from new parents. She dove into the world of infant and postpartum sleep and began working as a night nanny in 2017. As the owner of The Goodnight Baby Co., she has dedicated her career to helping families obtain healthy, happy sleep. She takes pride in helping parents successfully nurture their babies in a way that best supports that particular family’s goals and desires. She and her husband have two grown children, a beautiful granddaughter, and have loved and supported many more children in their home. Melenie speaks at national and international conferences on the topics of breastfeeding, community support systems, parenting, sleep deprivation in the postpartum period, and newborn care.

Amanda Butterfield, BS, CBD, CPPD, CBS, ISS
Vice President of Operations
Amanda has spent her career supporting families through the transformative seasons of birth,
postpartum, and early childhood. As the Vice President of Operations at The Goodnight Baby Co, she
ensures that new parents are provided expert care and guidance for this very special time in their lives.
Born and raised in Kalispell, Montana, Amanda began her journey in maternal care by working in her
uncle’s OB/Gyn office before college, where she first considered becoming a midwife. She went on to
earn her Bachelor of Science degree from Montana State University and has built a career supporting
families during the most tender seasons of life.
With more than 27 years’ experience as a birth and postpartum doula and as a professional nanny for
high-profile families, Amanda has cared for parents, newborns, and growing children across Montana.
She is a certified Birth Science professional and has completed extensive continuing education in
perinatal mood disorders, infant CPR and first aid, car seat safety, maternal and infant nutrition, reflux
and oral ties, and child development.
Amanda also brings the heart and expertise of a successful business owner, having operated several
thriving businesses here in the Gallatin Valley before joining The Goodnight Baby Co in 2021 as the Vice
President of Operations.
Her work with premature infants holds a special place in her heart – Amanda is the proud mother of two
sons who were born at 34 weeks. She deeply understands the courage, resilience, and tenderness it
takes to navigate those early days.
Today, Amanda lives with her husband, their energetic 9-year-old, and their newest little addition, a
sweet 3-month-old baby boy. Whether she’s supporting families behind the scenes or directly caring for
them, Amanda’s passion, empathy, and leadership shine through in everything she does.
